We Have Moved!

We have moved our blog to the new CHB website! Check us out over there to find our latest stories and reviews!

About Us

Cavalier House Books is a new and used indie bookstore located in downtown Denham Springs, LA. CHB began in the fall of 2005 as an internet/bulk sales business followed by the grand opening of our general bookstore in its first physical location on September 5, 2009. We are located at 100 North Range Avenue in Denham Springs, so please come by and check us out. We are always here ready to chat about books (or anything really)! You may also find us on the web in several places: here at the blog, at our e-commerce site, as well as on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. You can also sign up to receive our newsletter which will keep you up to date on all of our activities here at Cavalier House Books.

This blog is maintained by the staff of Cavalier House Books.

Michelle is a reader of books and petter of cats who counts among her favorite authors Kurt Vonnegut, John Irving, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. She hates Hemingway, loves Bukowski and generally prefers a book in which bad things happen. Ironically, she also enjoys children's books and middle grade literature.

John is a fan of George Orwell and Ray Kurzweil. He’d rather read a book about the science of sound than a New York Times bestselling novel and he generally prefers his books steeped in fact and very dry. He starts way more books than he finishes but tends to overly enjoy every book he reads.

Victoria has been a die-hard Harry Potter fan since she was eight.  She is an avid reader of YA, especially things that fall into the categories of fantasy and science fiction.  She was named after author Victoria Holt (whose books she adores) and doesn't understand the idea that books are not meant to be used for interior decoration.  Rainbow Rowell is her spirit animal.

Omar is a self-proclaimed geek, who loves science-fiction, fantasy, magic, and all things fantastical and mythical. While he thoroughly enjoys a good novel, his true passion lies in comic books and graphic novels. If he could have one super power, it would be complete control over the weather and elements.
